About the y3 Duo

y3 Duo

Zack and Sloane have performed frequently together in concerts both in New York as well as in the United Kingdom. Sloane moved back to London after graduation, and despite living on opposite sides of the pond, the duo plan to present several projects a year. At times they will perform as a duo, but for certain programs they will add a featured performer. On a 2012 recital tour of the UK, they were joined by Anna Sideris, an opera singer from the Royal Academy of Music in London.

The group developed a set of joint vocal-cello recitals, which included many original transcriptions formulated by the performers. A goal of “y3” is to create unique programs and to perform in less conventional settings in order to be accessible to a wider and more varied audience. They hope to inspire people who may not typically listen to classical music. They want to create a more casual enjoyable listening experience and provide a fresh take on the classical concert. Their current project, “Folklore and Fantasy”, was designed out of their love for shorter piano and cello works, and brings together a selection of pieces that are influenced by the folksongs and fairy-tale stories passed down through history. The program covers a range of locales, focusing mainly on Eastern and Western European cultures.
